Site Office Container — Configured for What a Project Site Office Must Do
Searching for a site office container means you have already made the key decision: a container, not a cabin. What you are working through now is which unit, configured how, for what your site office must specifically do. This page covers those selection and specification decisions — not a product introduction.
When a Container Beats a Cabin for a Site Office
Two things determine whether your project site needs a container or a cabin: project duration and site conditions.
If your project runs 12 months or longer, a container is the correct choice. The IS 2062 Corten steel frame handles years of outdoor exposure without the maintenance demands of a cabin structure. For projects under 6 months with a team of 4 or fewer, a cabin unit is lower cost and adequate — see our site office porta cabin for that requirement.

If your site requires government or third-party inspection compliance, has active vandalism risk, or sits in a remote location with extreme weather exposure, the container form factor is the required answer. No panel gaps, no lightweight cladding, no wooden junction points.
For full IS grade, dimensional specifications, and ISO corner fitting details across our container range, see our container office page. This page focuses on what you need to decide before you specify.
What a Site Office Must Actually Do — Functions That Drive Your Spec Decision
A site office runs functions that a standard corporate office does not — simultaneously.
Engineers at desks. A drawing review table in active use. Safety registers and project records in a lockable zone. Authority or client walkthroughs moving through the same space. All at once, on a working project site.
Each function takes floor space and translates to a factory decision. A drawing review table for A0 drawings needs 900mm × 2,000mm of clear floor. A records zone needs a lockable storage alcove built into the container wall — not a cabinet placed post-delivery. A visitor walkthrough needs 900mm of clear passage between the desk zone and the far wall.

These are layout decisions your factory must lock before fabrication starts. If you are ready to confirm those decisions, our prefabricated container office page covers what must be specified before the factory begins work.
20-ft or 40-ft — Choosing Based on Roles, Not Just Headcount
Team headcount is a starting point, not the answer. The more useful question is: how many functions must run at the same time in this space?
A 5-person site team that needs a drawing review table for A0 drawings, a lockable records zone, and clear walkthrough access for client visits needs a 40-ft unit — not because of 5 people, but because of 3 simultaneous functions. A 9-person rotating shift team where only 4 are ever on site at once can operate from a 20-ft (5,500mm × 2,200mm) without crowding.

Before choosing a unit size, list what the office must do — not just who will be in it.
Security, Documentation, and Access — Fitout Requirements Unique to Site Offices
Site offices carry confidential project drawings, safety registers, and sometimes cash floats. These requirements translate to specific factory fitout decisions that cannot be retrofitted cleanly after fabrication.
Steel security door: specify at order stage. A glass-panel or aluminium-frame entry door is not appropriate for an active construction environment.

CCTV bracket provision: a mounting bracket with concealed conduit running to the MCB panel. You supply the camera and DVR unit; we build the mounting point at the factory.
Dual-lock on the main door: two independent locking points, factory-fitted.
Document alcove: a fixed built-in shelf section for A1/A0 drawing tube storage or safety register binders — requires 150mm of wall depth allocation at design stage, confirmed before fabrication.
Each of these is a factory decision. Specifying them at the order stage costs nothing extra in time. Adding them after delivery costs a site visit and reworking a fabricated structure.
Confirm These Before You Order — Site Office Container Checklist
Five items to confirm before placing your order. Each affects your factory specification or your site delivery.

SAMAN container site office crane-installation in progress — door positioning, site access, and re-deployment expectation confirmed at order stage.
Site office function list: desk zones, drawing review area, records storage, visitor walkthrough path — lock this before fabrication begins so your layout is specified, not assumed.
Project duration: 12 months or longer confirms a container is the right structure. Under 6 months, evaluate a cabin alternative first.
Security grade: steel door, dual-lock, CCTV bracket — all factory-only modifications. Confirm at order stage.
Door and window positioning: which container face points toward the site entry road? Door placement must account for vehicle access and visitor approach direction.
Re-deployment expectation: if the office will move mid-project as construction advances, tell us at order stage. It affects door placement and external fitting positions — and the planning costs nothing to sort out before fabrication starts.
For ground preparation, crane access requirements, and DG electrical fitout for remote sites, see our construction site office page, which covers site deployment conditions in full.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 20-ft site office container enough for a team of 8 engineers?
Not if the office must run 3 functions simultaneously. A 20-ft unit (5,500mm × 2,200mm) holds 4 to 6 people at desks — that is the full usable floor. If you add a drawing review table for A0 drawings and a records zone to that same floor, you have run out of room before all 8 engineers are seated. The correct question is not “will 8 people fit?” It is “how many functions must run at the same time?”
Can the door position on a site office container be changed after delivery?
No. Door positions are cut into the container frame at the factory. Changing a door position after fabrication requires reworking that face of the container at significant cost and lead time. Confirm door position — and which face should point toward the site entry road — before your order is placed.
What security fitout comes standard on a site office container?
Standard fitout includes a steel personnel door with a single-point lock. Steel security door with dual-lock, CCTV bracket provision, and document alcove are factory-fitted modifications that must be specified at the order stage. They cannot be added cleanly after the container is delivered.
What is the total delivery lead time to a remote project site?
Fabrication of a standard 20-ft or 40-ft unit with electrical fitout takes 7 to 14 working days. Transit from our Bangalore or Greater Noida facility runs a further 3 to 10 working days depending on destination state. Total lead time from confirmed order to erected unit on your site: 10 to 21 working days.
